INVEST visitor: Christina Siegert
In the “INVEST visitors” series, we present visiting professors and fellows who have arrived at the flagship INVEST. This time we are introducing Christina Siegert.
My name is Christina Siegert, and I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bamberg, Germany, and an external research fellow at the University of Vienna, Austria, where I completed my PhD in Sociology.
Using large-scale survey and register data, my research focus lies at the intersection of family, work, and poverty research, with a particular focus on gender inequality across the life course.
Why I want to visit INVEST?
I am particularly interested in exchanging ideas with researchers at INVEST and learning more about their work and interdisciplinary expertise. A key motivation for my visit is to gain deeper insight into the Finnish register data and their research potential.
Since register data have only recently become accessible for research in Austria, I am especially keen to learn from Finland’s long experience in this field.
During my one-month stay hosted by Jani Erola, I aim to gain a deeper understanding of the research possibilities offered by Finnish register data and to explore how they might be used for cross-country comparisons with the newly available Austrian data.
Above all, I look forward to connecting with researchers at INVEST and developing ideas for future collaborations on issues such as economic inequality and family dynamics over the life course.
