Grant awarded to Sanni Aalto for research on the wellbeing and learning of immigrant pupils
Postdoctoral researcher Sanni Aalto has received a €15,070 grant from the Turku University Foundation for her research project Assessing psychosocial wellbeing and cognitive performance among immigrant pupils: a multilingual web-based assessment tool for planning support measures.
In its spring 2026 call, the Turku University Foundation awarded more than €1.6 million in grants to researchers and research groups at the University of Turku. Altogether 236 grants were awarded, with the majority supporting doctoral research.
In addition to Aalto, who received a postdoctoral grant, two special researchers from the INVEST Research Flagship Centre were awarded travel grants. Anne Abio received funding to participate in the 21st Congress of the World Psychiatric Association: Epidemiology and Public Health Section conference, and Sanna Herkama received a grant to attend IACAPAP 2026 – International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions.
