A two part webinar series on school and online bullying
INVEST Research Flagship and KiVa Antibullying Program open up the opportunity for everyone to hear the latest information on school and online bullying.
The webinars are the first of its kind. Professor Christina Salmivalli, KiVa antibullying program leader, got the idea to start with two webinars.
The first part, held on Thursday 1 February, Assistant Professor Claire Garandeau and Professor Christina Salmivalli will open bullying as a phenomenon: what is bullying, why does it happen, what is the nature of the phenomenon, and what are the short- and long-term consequences of bullying. Gardenau and Salmivalli will also talk about different forms of bullying: happening at school and online. They will also report preventive work and targeted intervention, e.g. what adults should do when bullying is detected.
In the second part, held on 8 February, in addition to Garandeau and Salmivalli, the theme will be opened by Special Researcher Sanna Herkama. This webinar will focus on presenting solutions and discuss the role of teachers, classroom characteristics, mechanisms of the KiVa Antibullying Program: mediators and moderators of the effects and systematic antibullying work in schools.
KiVa Antibullying Program is asked frequently about cyberbullying. According to studies, bullying happening only online is not very common, but cyberbullying and general bad and disrespectful behavior are increasingly found online. That is why the topic of cyberbullying is included in this webinar series.
The webinar-specific participation fee is 99 euros.
