INVEST is looking for an EU Impact and Funding Specialist

We are looking for a multi-skilled scientific and EU level impact/policy dialogue expert who can help us maximize our impact on policymakers at all governance levels.

INVEST is a flagship of the Academy of Finland and a Joint Research Centre that operates under the Faculties of Medicine and Social Sciences at the University of Turku (UTU) and at the Welfare State Research and Reform unit at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). Top researchers within the fields of sociology, psychology, child psychiatry and social policy lead the research centre.

INVEST aims at providing a new model for the welfare states. –We want to solve welfare state and public sector problems and provide greater insights to governments as they form policy. Our mission to increase the wellbeing of the Finnish and other societies during childhood, youth and early adulthood, explains Jani Erola, the director of INVEST.

– We started with 50 researchers just three years ago and now we have grown into a research centre with over 200 researchers and our own administration team. Our staff has been very successful in different funding calls, which explains the rapid growth, Erola continues. – We have for example received two ERC grants since we started and just recently we got three SRC grants. This is a good indicator of the quality of our research.

– To secure this development also in the future we need a person who can support our Research Area Directors in applying for competitive research funding, Erola emphasizes. – We also want to strengthen our impact in EU level. We have an ambitious research agenda designed to maximize our impact on policymakers at all governance levels.

The person we are looking for is a multi-skilled scientific and EU level impact/policy dialogue expert, as the tasks are particularly focused on the funding calls and implementation of the EU Research Framework programmes’ projects. They will take overall responsibility for the most important research funding calls, seek partners and new sources of funding and will be responsible for the implementation of INVEST’s and EU projects’ EU level impact plans.
