Invest visitor: Esther Nduku
In the “INVEST visitors” series, we present visiting professors and fellows who have arrived at the flagship INVEST. This time we are introducing lecturer Esther Nduku.
My name is Esther Nduku, a lecturer in the Department of Health Sciences, Machakos University Kenya. I have a background in nutrition and a deep passion for research in cross-cutting themes that intersect with public health. With a particular focus on mental health, I am committed to exploring the impact of nutrition on mental well-being, especially among adolescents and young adults in school. I seek to understand and address the unique challenges faced by students, advocating for holistic approaches that integrate mental health support within educational settings. I combine my expertise in nutrition with a strong commitment to fostering healthier, more resilient communities through education, research, and advocacy.
Why did you want to visit INVEST?
Attending INVEST is a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of this critical field on mental health and to contribute meaningfully to addressing mental health challenges. I am eager to engage with leading experts, learn about the latest research and best practices, and explore innovative approaches to mental health care. This fellowship aligns with my passion for promoting well-being and offers a platform to expand my knowledge, enhance my skills, and collaborate with like-minded professionals. I see this as an invaluable chance to make a positive impact on communities by advocating for better mental health policies, reducing stigma, and improving access to care.
What you expect/hope to reach during your visit in INVEST?
