Robert Trivers: Deceit and Self-deception – from Viruses to Donald Trump

Robert Trivers will give a lecture on Deceipt and Self-deception: from Viruses to Donald Trump in Helsinki on the 21st of February. Widely recognised as one of the most important evolutionary theorists since Charles Darwin, Trivers has formulated fundamental theories on parental investment, parent-offspring conflict, reciprocal altruism, and facultative sex ratio determination. Trivers won the Crafoord Prize, the “Nobel Prize” for Biosciences, in 2007 ”for his fundamental analysis of social evolution, conflict and cooperation”. This time he will talk about his influential theory of self-deception as an evolutionary strategy.

The presentation is part of the Westermarck Seminar in Evolutionary Sociology at the University of Helsinki. It is organized in cooperation with INVEST and the Family Federation of Finland
