Elina Kilpi-Jakonen Appointed Professor

Marjo Kaartinen, the Rector of the University of Turku, has appointed Elina Kilpi-Jakonen as a Professor of Sociology.

Kilpi-Jakonen works at the INVEST Research Flagship Centre, where her research focuses on social inequalities in education and the labour market, in particular those related to ethnicity, gender and social origin.

Kilpi-Jakonen leads several research project work packages. She directs a work package in the STN-funded SISU project and co-leads work packages in the NordForsk-funded Children First project and the Horizon Europe-funded Mapping Inequalities through the Life Course (MapIneq) project.

At the end of last year, Rector Kaartinen selected Kilpi-Jakonen to lead one of the five multidisciplinary thematic areas defined in the University of Turku’s strategy. Kilpi-Jakonen’s theme is Children, Young PPeople and Learning.
