INVEST Senior Researcher Kirsi Peltonen receives the ESTSS Young Minds Award
INVEST’s Kirsi Peltonen has been awarded the ESTSS The Young Minds in Psychotraumatology Award.
The award is given out by the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and acknowledges outstanding individual contributions to the trauma field in Europe. The award recognizes excellence in the traumatic stress field through service or research by an individual who has completed his or her training within the last 10 years.
Peltonen has a background in psychology, especially in childhood traumatization, and defended her thesis “Children and Violence: Nature, Consequences and Interventions” in 2011. Since March she has worked as a Senior Researcher at the Research Centre for Child Psychiatry. She is also part of INVEST’s “Yhdessä vahvaksi” research program, which focuses on digitalized cognitive-behavioral intervention for depressive symptoms during pregnancy.
– I am fascinated by the opportunity to expand my expertise from preventive and therapeutic interventions to universal interventions. The broadness of the field and the size of the research group are particularly intriguing here, says Peltonen.
The award was presented at the ESTSS virtual conference on June 17th.
