Growth in Applications for Public Mental Health Master’s Program Despite Application Fee
The Public Mental Health Master’s Program, organised by the INVEST Research Flagship Centre, was the third most popular international program at the University of Turku this year. Applications to the program increased by 56% compared to 2024, with 598 applications submitted, up from 383 last year.
In contrast, the number of applicants to the Master’s Degree Programme in Inequalities, Interventions and New Welfare State (MPInvest) declined. This year, 122 people applied, compared to 292 last year.
The decrease in overall applications may be partly due to the newly introduced national application fee of €100. Across all Master’s programs at the University of Turku, applications fell by 29%.
The final application numbers will be confirmed in the coming weeks, as the university verifies fee obligations and processes payments. Some applicants still have time to complete their payment, and others may yet be reclassified as liable for the fee.
