INVEST visitor: Jaehee Kim
In the “INVEST visitors” series, we present visiting professors and fellows who have arrived at the flagship INVEST. This time we are introducing Research Professor Jaehee Kim.
My name is Jaehee Kim, and I am a Research Professor of Research Institutes of Future city and society and Dept. of Child and Family Studies at Yonsei University. In addition, I serve as the CEO of AI.DUL Inc., where I lead initiatives focused on integrating AI-driven solutions into family and child development programs.
My research is dedicated to exploring the developmental trajectories of children within diverse family contexts, with a strong emphasis on creating interventions that foster healthy family dynamics and enhance child well-being. I am particularly interested in understanding the interplay between child temperament and parental temperament traits, and how these dynamics influence school readiness and adaptation. Through my work, I am also deeply involved in developing and implementing digital tools designed to support intervention and prevention efforts for families across various cultural settings, including solutions that address the unique needs of children as they prepare for and transition into school environments.
Why did you want to visit INVEST?
I was drawn to INVEST due to its esteemed reputation for fostering a vibrant community of global researchers and its dedication to addressing social inequalities in child and family welfare. The opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in child development is highly appealing to me. I am particularly interested in learning from Finland’s renowned early childhood education programs and exploring diverse approaches to parenting that can enhance my research and practice.
Furthermore, I have a strong interest in experiencing education and life in Europe, especially in Finland, a country known for its progressive education system and commitment to well-being. I look forward to gaining valuable insights into mental health within family contexts and exploring innovative ideas for digital programs that have the potential to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families worldwide.
What you expect/hope to reach during your visit in INVEST?
During my visit to INVEST, I intend to establish meaningful partnerships with fellow researchers for collaborative projects, particularly those integrating with child development. I am eager to immerse myself in the methodologies and theoretical frameworks at INVEST, which I believe will enrich my research and inspire innovative approaches in our intervention programs. Additionally, I look forward to exploring cross-cultural intervention programs in collaboration with INVEST, leveraging the strengths of both teams. Ultimately, I hope this visit will contribute to my academic growth and advance research that addresses global challenges in child and family studies.
